Why You Should Join JJCAA

  • Without the organization, once retired from the community college,
every retiree has only one voice in Springfield. SUAA, with its large number of retirees from universities and community colleges, provides a collective voice that carries the message loud and clear to legislators.

  • For the next several years, the budget crunch for the state will see every group that is dependent on state funding feuding for every dollar. SUAA provides the biggest protection for our retirement benefits.

  • SUAA is not only mindful of protecting the rights and benefits of retirees, but is also concerned with the welfare of survivors.

In spite of the budget deficit, SUAA will continue to support the following goals
  • Improvement of state funding of the pension program and the state health insurance plan.
  • Appropriation of mandated state contributions.
  • Compounding of annual increases for both annuitants and survivors.
  • Equity in group health insurance for community college retirees with benefits equal to the State Health Plan.
  • Equity for low-income annuitants.
